| The Pinellas Trail
Pinellas County Rails to Trails 12020 Walsingham Rd. Largo, FL 33778 (727) 549-6099 The trail runs through the
center of Dunedin, and provides a pleasant corridor to explore points north
or south of the city. The 34-mile long Pinellas Trail offers a unique opportunity
to enjoy the outdoors. Grab your in-line skates, put on your jogging shoes
or hop on your bicycle and head to the Pinellas Trail.
There
aren't many places close to suburbia where you can see a great horned owl
and osprey nesting in one of the few remaining stands of native slash pine
trees. This trail on the northern tip of the 400-acre Honeymoon Island
State Recreation Area offers those treasures and more. Florida State Parks

Just north or Dunedin, along the Pinellas trail, you will see a small sign indicating Hammock Park. The park is located at the northeast end of San Mateo Drive and is open every day from sunrise to sunset. Over two hundred trees have been planted in the park through the efforts of the Bay Bouquet Garden Club. This 75 acre nature park has approximately 5 miles of unpaved intertwined trails that can be combined to make hikes of various lengths. It is inhabited by various forms of wildlife and plant life. On your left watch for Cedar Creek, which parallels the Sugarberry Trail. Between the creek on your left and the woods on your right, there’s just enough change in elevation to make a difference in the habitat. The area along the creek bank is a narrow wetland, while on your right you’ll see large oaks and other hardwoods. The park has several lengthy boardwalks, three picnic shelters, an observation platform, playgrounds, a frisbee golf course, and restrooms. Further information on the
